Canadian Mining Hall of Fame Inductees

The year 2009 marked the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Dome, Hollinger and McIntyre Mines; three monumental finds that fuelled the Porcupine Gold Rush of 1909.

As Timmins continues to celebrate four years of centennials, early prospectors who claimed stake in the future of the City with the Heart of Gold are being recognized for their contributions to the Canadian mining industry.

The three prominent figures of the Porcupine Camp who made phenomenal discoveries, transforming the history of mining in Canada, are making history once again.

On Thursday, January 14, 2010, Benny Hollinger, Sandy McIntyre and Jack Wilson were inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame during its 22nd Annual Induction Ceremony, held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Toronto.

The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame represents an integral part of Canadian history. Inducting Hollinger, McIntyre and Wilson celebrates their efforts, perseverance, dedication and the impact their lives had on the prosperity of the City of Timmins and on the history of mining in Canada.
